Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is full and voluminous with deeply packed aromas of pungent passionfruit, ripe tropical fruits and grassy, green capsicum and dark herbal detail. Aromas of green stonefruits and mineral elements emerge with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, bold, juicy and luscious flavours of ripe passionfruit and tropical fruits feature on a fulsome palate. Layers of green stonefuits, herbs and capsicum add interest. The fruit is underlined by dry, grainy phenolic textures and the mouthfeel balanced by fresh, lacy acidity, providing plenty of energy and drive. The wine carries to a mouthwatering, dry, textural finish with rich passionfruit and gooseberry flavours. This is a full, bold and juicy, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with grainy textures and a dry finish. Match with salads and vegetables, and herb-marinated seafood and poultry over the next 2 years. Fruit from the company’s Marlborough Wairau Valley vineyard, a portion cold soaked on skins and cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and <2 g/L RS, the wine aged 3-4 months on lees with stirring. 1,856 dozen made.
