Hand-picked Mendoza clone fruit from the company’s Gimblett Road vineyard, WBP full barrel-fermented, 50% by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 30% new French oak, undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth. This has a bold and powerful, fully-concentrated bouquet of ripe citrus fruit with layers of savoury yellow stonefruits, nutty and creamy barrel-ferment elements, along with waves of toasty oak and buttery MLF. Full-bodied, a firm and concentrated core of savoury citrus and yellow stonefruits is melded with layers of nutty and toasty oak, flinty lees, creamy, buttery MLF and complexing oxidative nuances. The palate is fulsome and deeply packed, with a firm line. Discreet acidity adds to the drive and the wine flows with plenty of energy to a concentrated, lingering nutty, toasty finish. This is a full, firm and powerful, complex Chardonnay with layers of ripe, savoury fruit and plenty of nutty, toasty oak and buttery richness. Match with roast pork over the next 4+ years. 210 dozen made
