We have teamed up with Master of wine world John Hancock. We thought we would do a couple cool projects together, with the first off the rank the all shiny and new Big and Small Chardonnay Colab. One must remember that John is the father of Chardonnay in New Zealand having effectively been the first to barrel ferment the delicious drop, having made some stunning wines in the past, we are absolutely stoked to have him here doing his thing.
John writes about the new Colab:
Excellent Chardonnay fruit from the Twyford region of Hawkes Bay was gently pressed into a mixture of stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. The fermentation was allowed to proceed using indigenous (“wild”) yeast. The wine was then aged on the spent yeast to build mouthfeel and complexity. Typical Hawkes Bay Chardonnay flavours and aromas of grapefruit with a hint of toasty oak with a soft and round mouthfeel is the result. Great consumed over the next few years with seafood dishes or roast chicken”
but we reckon….perhaps even serving it with a second glass of Chardy ……
As the name of the brand suggests this is a fun Chardonnay offering big value, big palate weight like the Chardonnay of old but with a small price tag.
